Curriculum Material Development and Evaluation (CMDE)

CMDE is an important wing of DIET which aims for development of curriculum, text books and assessment tools. The importance of CMDE for proper implementation of continuous and comprehensive assessment in schools has already increased. In the light of NCF 2005, CMDE organizes various training programs and workshops to achieve the intended objectives of education and to meet the public interest. CMDE aims to innovate new aspects of the curriculum, learn about CCE’s innovative tools, and innovate the child – centered and activity – based classroom process.

Functions:

1. To adopt existing items and develop new items of the following kinds so that they suit local circumstances, and can be used in elementary education and elementary teacher education programmes:

  1. Curricular units: New, locally relevant units could be developed for the district in various subjects to supplement the generally prescribed curricula.
  2. Teaching learning for general as well as locally developed curricular units – especially primers for classes I and II in tribal languages in districts having substantial tribal population.
  3. Techniques and guidelines for continuous and summative learner evaluation.
  4. Tests, questions/item banks, rating scales, observation schedules, guidelines for diagnostic testing/remedial programmes talent identification procedures etc.

2. To help educational authorities and elementary school/ NFE (Non Formal Education) /AE (Adult Education) centers in implementing a reliable and valid system of learner evaluation.
