Work education is an important part of education. It increases knowledge, observations, moral values and life skills through various physical activities of life. Work Education aims to create a whole experience of ‘being’, working with all of one’s faculties. This serves as the foundation where experiences gained while working transform into vocational skills later. Work Education also helps the individuals to understand the dignity of labour, positive attitude towards work and pleasure of working with hands, thus enhancing the quality of work and life.
Functions
To organize training related to work education for teachers, students and parents.
To plan projects linking work education to social service.
To develop various curriculum learning materials and teaching modules in collaboration with various educational agencies.
Ensure the role of work education in all the aspects of the DIET.
Organise workshops to develop D.El.Ed students’ interest in work education.
Establish work education centers in schools and train in various handicrafts to realise the importance of work.
Take lead in planning and implementing projects for children with special need related to work education.
Monitor the work education activities of all the schools in the district and provide them with the necessary academic support.
